Linda Silen was born in Los Angeles and started drawing when she was three to four years old. As a child, Linda was very influenced by the animation of the Walt Disney artists and Linda thinks that it has spurred her imagination to do fantasy paintings, although, in a more sophisticated manner.

Linda started to paint in the early 1980’s after she met an artist/teacher named Diane Wallace in northern California. Diane taught Linda how to paint in watercolors, which she had never done before. Linda loves the way she can manipulate the paint as well as how it allows for "happy accidents" to occur. As Silen was raising children, she had little time to spend on painting.

Currently, Linda is embarking on a career in art in hopes to be successful at painting, since it is her passion. Silen’s paintings portray a story-book quality that is whimsical and imaginative.
