Document Title
Russell Johnson is an Arizona native landscape artist, working in oils, graphite, pastel,
and photography, who investigates life cycles and creations in nature. Russell’s
photographs are close-up inspections of nature’s life and its remains. He searches
for these remnants or gifts of creation as subjects for his photographs. He uses a
soft, diffused focus to subtly portray a dream-like quality that is pictorial and
painterly impressionistic. Through painting and drawing, he finds outlets to release
expressions of a mysterious landscape. Russell has recently acquired his Bachelor of
Fine Arts degree from the University of Arizona in May of 2003. Russell’s personal vision
strikes a deeper emotional chord through spiritual beauty. His images express moral goodness
and optimism by stimulating the imagination.
